A team of Dayenu members is participating in the Sydney Morning Herald's Sun Run that's taking place on Sat 5th February and is asking its supporters as well as members of the Jewish community to sponsor them. All funds raised will go directly to JewishCare.
Dayenu provides social activities as well as support, education and information for Jewish gays, lesbians, bi-sexuals, trans and intersex people as well as their friends, families, partners and other supporters.
Dayenu was conceived in 1999 as a co-operation between lesbian and gay Jewish groups to enter a combined float in the 2000 Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras but since then has grown to the stage that it now has over 200 members.
JewishCare helps all members of the community, providing services to meet the needs of certain groups. JewishCare's CEO Claire Vernon explained "JewishCare is thrilled to welcome Dayenu into our family of supporters. Last year JewishCare ran a seminar called 'Mainstreaming Same Sex Parenting' that addressed the implications of new legislation regarding same-sex parenting and we looking forward to working with Dayenu for our mutual benefit for years to come."
Roy Freeman, President of Dayenu, said "We are very excited about this opportunity to raise funds for JewishCare and we look forward to working more closely with them in the future. They do wonderful work and we hope to raise over $1800 for them."
