JewishCare 2011 Annual General Meeting was attended by 120 people. Awards were given to recognise the exceptional dedication and achievement by staff and volunteers. A special award was given to David and Shirley Lowy for the support that the Chai Foundation has given to the community
14 new citizens from 7 countries and 4 continents became citizens in JewishCare's sixth citizenship ceremony.
JewishCare held the most successful White Ribbon Day Mens Breakfast on 25 November. Over 100 people turned up at the Vibe Hotel in Rushcutters Bay and heard an amazingly honest and inspiration address by John Brogden. White Ribbon Bay marks the beginning of JewishCare's 16 Days 16 Rabbis and 16 Synagogues initiative which brings community attention to the highly damaging yet often ignored issue of domestic violence.
The Chai Foundation and JewishCare are pleased to announce an agreement whereby JewishCare will administer funds on behalf of Chai.
This arrangement will streamline the process by which those members in the Jewish community in need of emergency financial relief will receive support.
The arrangement is the culmination of a longstanding relationship between Chai and JewishCare. Shirley Lowy OAM, Founder of the Chai Foundation, said “Chai was originally created to fulfill a gap in the community and we believe the collaboration with JewishCare will ensure the continuity of Chai’s aim to provide direct and immediate relief to people in times of personal and financial crisis.” Allan Vidor, President of Jewish Care, said, “Chai and JewishCare have a successful and established history of working together, and this alliance will maximise the benefits of their resources to the community.”
Those seeking emergency relief should contact JewishCare directly at 1300 133 660 or firstcall@jewishcare.com.au

Following the retirement of Eva Fischl OAM, Allan Vidor was unanimously elected President of JewishCare at a General Meeting on 23 March.
The remaining Board positions remain unchanged.
At the same meeting Eva Fischl was elected Patron of JewishCare.
