JewishCare offers a range of support options for children and young people with intellectual disability and autism in the Jewish community. Our aim is to support you to reach your potential, and feel valued and respected as members of our community. Our Big Brothers Big Sisters program links children aged 7-14 years with a volunteer ‘Big’. Through the friendship, trust and support of an older, positive role model, you will have the opportunity to develop confidence and self-esteem, gain new skills, new experiences and know that you have someone you can talk to and trust, outside of your network of family and friends.
For 18-30 year olds the Mentoring programs can help you deal with challenging times and potential opportunites in your life.
Camp Sababa (children age 6-16) and Sababa Senior (for ages17-25), offers children and young adults with disability a summer holiday camp. The camp provides a wonderful holiday, which is fun filled, active and with a Jewish flavour. As a camper you get involved in various activities including outdoor recreation, sports, crafts, music and more. You are ‘buddied’ with graduates from the participating high schools and young adults from the community.
